Maps tapestries

A selection of maps tapestries and nautical tapestry wall-hangings all woven in Europe.

Neither maps nor nautical scenes traditionally feature as tapestry wall-hangings, for historical and geographic reasons. A weaver in the Loire Valley or Paris centuries ago is unlikely to have seen a ship and certainly not a map so will not have woven them. Although a Venice merchant might have commissioned a ship tapestry from an Italian weaver it has been left to weavers of our own day to see the market for these scenes. Now we can supply you with nautical and map tapestries from weavers in France, Belgium and Italy.
